Blossoms in Autumn
Blossoms in Autumn
Ulysses is a 59-year-old widower who, since retiring, has been in the grip of loneliness. The former moving man is without direction or purpose. He can't even find solace in the company of his children: his daughter is dead, his son consumed by work.
Mrs. Solenza is a 62-year-old former model. Once a magazine cover star, she now runs the family business: a cheese shop owned by her late mother. She, too, is alone.

Two lives drift sadly by, inching ever closer to old age. Until, one day, they collide-and an emotional earthquake happens. A unique collaboration between veteran comics writer Zidrou and rising star Aimee de Jongh, Blossoms in Autumn is a masterful exploration of growing old and falling in love.

Che Guevara
Che Guevara
Che Guevara's legend is unmatched in the modern world. Since his assassination in 1967 at the age of 39, the Argentine revolutionary has become an internationally famed icon, as revered as he is controversial. A Marxist ideologue, he sought to end global inequality by bringing down the American capitalist empire through armed guerrilla warfare - and has few rivals in the Cold War era as an apostle of change.

In Che: A Revolutionary Life, Jon Lee Anderson and Jose Hernandez reveal the man behind the myth, creating a complex portrait of this passionate idealist. Adapted from Anderson's masterwork, Che transports us from young Ernesto's medical school days to the battlefields of the Cuban revolution; from his place of power alongside Castro to his disastrous sojourn in the Congo, and his violent end in Bolivia.

Through renowned Mexican artist Jose Hernandez's drawings, we feel the bullets fly past in Cuba; smell the smoke of Castro's cigars; and scrutinize the face of the weary guerrilla as he is called 'Comandante' for the first time. With astonishing precision, colour, and drama, Che makes us first-hand witnesses to the revolutionary life and times of this historic figure. Combining Anderson's unprecedented access and research with Hernandez's emotionally gripping artwork, Che resurrects the man for a new generation of readers.

Communist Manifesto
Communist Manifesto
"A spectre is haunting Europe - the spectre of Communism". Published in 1848, at a time of political upheaval in Europe, Karl Marx and Frederik Engels' Manifesto for the Communist Party was at once a powerful critique of capitalism and a radical call to arms. It remains the most incisive introduction to the ideas of Communism and the most lucid explanation of its aims. Much of what Marx and Engels' proposed - a state education system, a progressive income tax, the nationalisation of banks - would continue to be at the heart of political debate into the 21st century. It is no surprise, perhaps, that The Communist Manifesto (as it was later renamed) is the second best-selling book of all time, surpassed only by The Bible. The Guardian's editorial cartoonist Martin Rowson employs his trademark draughtsmanship and wit to this lively graphic novel adaptation of Marx and Engels' revolutionary pamphlet. Published to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Marx's birth, at a time of deep mistrust in The Establishment, The Communist Manifesto is both a timely reminder of the politics of hope and a thought-provoking guide to the most influential work of political theory ever published.

Eileen Gray A House Under the Sun
Eileen Gray A House Under the Sun
In 1924, work began in earnest on a small villa by the sea in the south of France. Nearly a century later, this structure is a design milestone. Meet Eileen Gray, the woman behind the E-1027 house and a pioneer of the Modern Movement in architecture.
Like so many gifted female artists and designers of her time, Eileen Gray's story has been eclipsed by the men with whom she collaborated. Dzierzawska's exquisite visuals bring to life the tale of a young Irish designer whose work and life came to bloom during the 'Annees Folles' of early 20th century Paris.

Eureka One bloody Sunday
Eureka One bloody Sunday
This
graphic book brings to life the struggles of daily life on the goldfields and
the powerful events of the Eureka stockade.

The extraordinary story of Eureka is one
that Australians have revisited since it happened in 1854. Why did British Army
Red Coats fire on a group of miners hidden behind a crude wooden stockade? Why
did soldiers from two famous British regiments attack a group of gold miners
early one Sunday morning? What made the miners and their families protest and
put their lives in danger?

This book brings alive life on the
Victorian goldfields. It tells us about power, settlement and the growth of the
colony. It tells us about rights, and what matters.

The central character in this book is a
boy called Bernie. Bernie lived with his parents on the goldfields and played a
key role in events leading up to the battle at the Eureka Stockade, despite his
age. He sees the murder of the miner that sparked armed protest. His family
were camped close by and were key witnesses. We see the growing unrest and the
fighting through his eyes.

The reader is challenged to investigate - like a detective, you must sift through different accounts and reach your own
understanding. People on both sides of the conflict believed that their actions
were correct and justifiable. Readers will see actual letters from the
governor, complaints from angry miners, as well as diaries and newspaper
articles. This is not a book you can read while watching television. It's so
gripping you won't want to.

Early morning on Monday, October 9, 2017, wildfires burned through Northern California, resulting in 44 fatalities. In addition, 6,200 homes and 8,900 structures and were destroyed. Author Brian Fies's firsthand account of this tragic event is an honest, unflinching depiction of his personal experiences, including losing his house and every possession he and his wife had that didn't fit into the back of their car. In the days that followed, as the fires continued to burn through the area, Brian hastily pulled together A Fire Story and posted it online-it immediately went viral. He is now expanding his original webcomic to include environmental insight and the fire stories of his neighbors and others in his community. A Fire Story is an honest account of the wildfires that left homes destroyed, families broken, and a community determined to rebuild.

Guantanamo Kid
Saudi Arabia offers few prospects for the bright young Mohammed El-Gharani. With roots in Chad, Mohammed is treated like a second-class citizen. His access to healthcare and education are restricted; nor can he make the most of his entrepreneurial spirit. At the age of 14, having scraped together some money as a street trader, Mohammed seizes an opportunity to study in Pakistan. One Friday in Karachi, Mohammed is detained during a raid on his local mosque. After being beaten and interrogated, he is sold to the American government by the Pakistani forces as a member of Al-Qaida with links to Osama Bin Laden, but Mohammed has heard of neither. The Americans fly him first to Kandahar and then to Guantanamo Bay.

In Guantanamo Kid, Jerome Tubiana and Alexandre Franc tell the eye-opening, heart-wrenching story of one of Guantanamo's youngest detainees.
