1000 Places to See Before You Die Deluxe Ed
1000 Places to See Before You Die Deluxe Ed
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past decade, you've most certainly heard of Patricia Schultz's groundbreaking 1,000 Places to See Before You Die - the ultimate travel bible. Originally published in 2003 after Schultz spent eight years researching and writing the tome, one of the most iconic books and brands of all time will now have a new deluxe format to live alongside its predecessor.

1,000 Places to See Before You Die: A Photographic Journey will include all the places featured in the 2015 revised edition of the book (organised in the same order), but each of the 1,000 places will include a beautiful photo that brings Schultz's words to life in a completely different way from the original book. From the exquisite French Riviera and Italian lakes to the pyramids of Egypt and Mount Kilimanjaro; to Shanghai's Bund and Singapore's street food; to Kangaroo Island and Bora Bora; to Graceland and the Grand Canyon; to Angel Falls and even the White Continent Antarctica. No matter what page you flip to, an eye-opening experience awaits.

1,000 Places to See Before You Die: A Photographic Journey is meant to inspire wanderlust, or rather 'wanderlove,' as Schultz describes it. 'I think travel makes you a better person and a more aware global citizen. I know that I cherish it as a privilege and a gift - it lifts me up, lightens me, expands me. Most important, and most simply, travel brings us joy.'

50 Greatest Walks of the World
50 Greatest Walks of the World
Barry Stone, author of 1001 Walks You Must Experience Before You Die, delves into some of the lesser-known aspects of the world's most famous - and not-quite-famous-yet - trails. The perfect accompaniment to practical guidebooks, Stone relates how slings and carabiners kept him from falling headlong off the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and reports on the progress of the continental-wide monster, the Trans Canada Trail, gaps in which are still being filled by countless grass-roots communities. With walks that will appeal to everyone regardless of ability, The 50 Greatest Walks of the World includes British classics such as the Pennine Way, Offa's Dyke Path, and the Old Man of Hoy as well as personal favourites such as Italy's Cinque Terre Classic and the Isle of Skye's Trotternish Ridge, one of Britain's finest ridge traverses with almost 2,500m of ascents. Whether it's a climb, a stroll, or a life-changing slog, this book has the walk for you.

Amazing Boat Journeys
Amazing Boat Journeys
Experience 60 of the world's greatest adventures on water - from sailing the Nile by felucca and cruising the Canadian Arctic, to exploring Pitcairn Island by cargo ship. With detailed accounts of each route, beautiful photos and practical tips on how to plan your own voyage, Amazing Boat Journeys will help you discover a more rewarding way of travelling.

From the seafaring Polynesians to the Chinese Age of Discovery, travel by water shaped the world. That same spirit of exploration compels Lonely Planet writers today to travel by cargo freighter and fishing vessel to the world's most remote islands; to hop onto mailboats in the Bahamas; or to experience life on a historic sail-powered windjammer.

These journeys are eclectic and wide-ranging, from the wonder of a glass-bottomed boat ride through Florida springs to the ease of a thatch-roofed kettuvallam exploring Kerala's famed backwaters. Old-fashioned paddlesteamers ply the length of the Mississippi in the style of the 1800s, and cruise ships on the Yangtze feature enthusiastic karaoke in Mandarin. Off-the-beaten-path cruises include Antarctica and Papua New Guinea.

On the opposite end of the spectrum from a weeks-long journey over open seas is the charm of seeing a city from the water, whether crossing Victoria Harbour via Hong Kong's classic Star Ferry, viewing the banks of London from the Thames, or traversing Bangkok on the Chao Phraya River.

Each trip includes authoritative commentary, awe-inspiring photography, and details of life on board the vessel, similar routes, and how to make the trip happen.

Iyer's adventures and observations as he travels from a meditation-hall to a love-hotel, from West Point to Kyoto Station make for a constantly surprising series of provocations guaranteed to pique the interest and curiosity of those who don't know Japan, and to remind those who do of the wide range of fascinations the country and culture contain.

Between the Woods and the Water on Foot to Constantinople from the Hook of Holland
Between the Woods and the Water on Foot to Constantinople from the Hook of Holland
The acclaimed travel writer's youthful journey - as an 18-year-old - across 1930s Europe by foot began in A Time of Gifts, which covered the author's exacting journey from the Lowlands as far as Hungary. Picking up from the very spot on a bridge across the Danube where his readers last saw him, we travel on with him across the great Hungarian Plain on horseback, and over the Romanian border to Transylvania. The trip was an exploration of a continent which was already showing signs of the holocaust which was to come. Although frequently praised for his lyrical writing, Fermor's account also provides a coherent understanding of the dramatic events then unfolding in Middle Europe. But the delight remains, 20 years after first publication, in travelling with him in his picaresque journey past remote castles, mountain villages, monasteries and towering ranges. Although Between the Woods and the Water was published nine years after A Time of Gifts, Fermor is famously still at work on the concluding part of his trilogy.
