Cat from Muzzle
Cat from Muzzle
Dwayne is a rumble-tumble tabby cat who knows where he belongs - up on the farm at Muzzle Station.

So, when he's taken to live far away in the town of Kaikoura, what's a cat to do? Shake the dust off his paws and start walking, of course!

The trouble is, home is a very long way away . . .

With a bouncy readaloud story by Sally Sutton and witty illustrations by Scott Tulloch, The Cat From Muzzle is a true tale of feline audacity that will delight readers the world over.

Cooks Cook
Cooks Cook
Cook's Cook follows the 1768 journey of James Cook's H.M.S. Endeavour with his ship's cook, the one-handed John Thompson, as story teller.
Through real recipes, events on board and the places the ship travelled on its way to the Pacific, the book tells multiple stories.
Here are stories of social class, hierarchy and race; stories of explorers and the people of the land; the story of one of the world's most famous explorers told through a fresh new lens.
And of course, it's a book about food: from Pease Pudding to Goose Pie and Shark Steaks, here's how a resourceful cook fed a shipful of hungry sailors on their extraordinary adventure.
This beautiful book is full of information drawn from extensive research alongside evocative illustrations, released in time for the 250th anniversary of the Endeavour's journey.

Counting The Stars
Counting The Stars
A sequel to Taming the Sun and Riding the Waves, Gavin Bishop's latest stunning book contains four more Maori myths, including two well-known legends (Ranginui and Papatuanuku and Hinemoa and Tutanekai) and two less well-known legends (The battle of the birds and Kae and the whale). Aimed at children 3-10 years, these myths are simply written and yet powerful. They're exciting and scary but each story is nicely resolved. Gavin allows the essence of the original myths to remain while also re-telling them for a new generation of children. The illustrations are stunning - the different colour palette for each story and the strong mix of techniques create bold and beautiful images. Counting the Stars is a collection that continues to take traditional myths to a new level. Created by one of New Zealand's most talented and passionate children's book writers and illustrators.

Eliza & The White Camellia
Eliza & The White Camellia
Sarah Hart was pregnant with her second child when her husband, bricklayer Edward Hart, stole food to feed his hungry family. On the run for 17 months, when captured he served six years on board prison hulks. After his release the family searched for a better life and found it offered by the New Zealand Company, arriving in 1841, the year after the Treaty of Waitangi was signed.

Eliza was their first New Zealander, born in 1846. A mother of 12, she became a suffragist and actively sought the vote for women, which was granted after a `monster petition' was presented to Parliament in 1893.

This bilingual children's picture book is a Suffrage 125 project and spans Eliza's life, from poverty, emigration, elections, illegitimate children, women and the vote, the trial of Minnie Dean and the formation of the National Council of Women, concluding the month following the start of World War I.

Lavishly illustrated with a mix of original artwork, photographs and ephemera, the book also includes the following: Contents Page, Fact Boxes, New Zealand Timeline, World Suffrage Timeline, Suffrage Activities, Suffrage Quiz, Glossary and an Index.
